Maofeng is one of China's ten most famous teas and belongs to the green tea category. It is produced in the Anhui Province area, so it is also known as Huizhou tea. It was created by Xie Yuda Tea Shop during the Qing Dynasty's Guangxu period. It is picked and hand-crafted during the Qingming and Yuegu periods every year, using the tender and robust young shoots of superior tea trees. Its appearance is slightly curved, green with a hint of yellow, with silver hairs visible.
